Talking to the Wall
By Anonymous
The truth doesn’t care
If you believe it or not.
It waits, quietly, for you to decide
If it is worth your time.
The truth doesn’t worry
If it is inconvenient
Or troublesome
Or at odds with your beliefs.
You can equivocate
block yourself off from others
yell and argue
Kick and complain
and you may even convince yourself
And loudly proclaim your victory
but…
The truth will be there
Long after you decide it’s not the truth
Biding its time,
Holding its tongue
Unchanging and immovable,
Waiting for you to realize
That it hasn’t changed.
That it won’t change
the fact
that you were wrong.
If you believe it or not.
It waits, quietly, for you to decide
If it is worth your time.
The truth doesn’t worry
If it is inconvenient
Or troublesome
Or at odds with your beliefs.
You can equivocate
block yourself off from others
yell and argue
Kick and complain
and you may even convince yourself
And loudly proclaim your victory
but…
The truth will be there
Long after you decide it’s not the truth
Biding its time,
Holding its tongue
Unchanging and immovable,
Waiting for you to realize
That it hasn’t changed.
That it won’t change
the fact
that you were wrong.
