Plans
By Mina Krause, '20
When I am old
I shall like to remain unwavering
And undying
As my wisps of silver hair billow
In the chilled breeze
Of an autumn afternoon in an apple orchard
Where I sit and read Shakespeare
When I am old
I will like to have had
Seen the world
And everything in it
While my mind will be
In the 21st century
My heart will remain with the 19th
With a car that runs on solar
And an armory in the living room
Of my great big British mansion
That I will have bought with the money
I earned from my novels
That I will be so proud of
But for now
When I am not yet old
I will worry about college applications
And whether I’ll ever fall in love
Before I ever get
An electric car
And a suit of armor
To clumsily dance around in
I shall like to remain unwavering
And undying
As my wisps of silver hair billow
In the chilled breeze
Of an autumn afternoon in an apple orchard
Where I sit and read Shakespeare
When I am old
I will like to have had
Seen the world
And everything in it
While my mind will be
In the 21st century
My heart will remain with the 19th
With a car that runs on solar
And an armory in the living room
Of my great big British mansion
That I will have bought with the money

That I will be so proud of
But for now
When I am not yet old

And whether I’ll ever fall in love
Before I ever get
